When we Let Go, Life Supports Us

Just about everyone I meet in business is struggling in at least one of four areas:

(1) health (you or your family member),

(2) relationships,

(3) career,

(4) money.

The Eastern spiritual traditions — and the Vedic tradition in particular — provide solutions to all of these problems. Maybe you’ve read my last book, The Power of Letting Go. The next one is more or less writing itself. The subtitle is ‘Health, Wealth and Relationships on the Path to Enlightenment’. Below is some material I downloaded / wrote down recently. What do you think / feel about it?

“Everything is Paramashiva (Supreme Consciousness). Amazing things will happen if you let go completely — if you surrender. This means dropping the ego, otherwise known as the individual identity. We identify with the body/mind and make the mistake of thinking that ‘John Purkiss’ — for example — is the doer. This is the unspoken assumption which runs right through our culture. It’s the assumption that ‘I’ — this bundle of cells and repetitive thoughts — is making things happen. You can see the flaw in the argument, because a lot of the time we fail to make things happen. Other things happen instead. This is why we experience stress and frustration. Things we want to happen aren’t happening. Other people aren’t cooperating. We keep running into the same problems, over and over again. Often it’s to do with ill health, failing relationships, frustration with our careers, or a lack of money to live the way we want.

We persist with this approach for years and years — because we don’t know any other way. We try to make thing happen. We try to get what we want and avoid what we don’t want, in the belief that we are the body/mind. This belief seems sensible because it’s embedded in our culture. Economics, finance, psychology, law and many other disciplines are based on the belief that you and I are separate body/minds trying to get what we want and avoid what we don’t want — until one day the body disintegrates. Along the way we bump into some of the billions of other beings who are doing the same thing. No wonder so many are stressed and/or depressed.

Fortunately, there’s another way to live, which is what this book is about. In a nutshell, we need to drop the ego. Then life becomes blissful and fulfilling. My job as author is to help you do this. Your life will become magical.

This book is based on the teachings of HDH Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam, known to his followers as Swamiji. He gave me my spiritual name: Sri Nithya Banahastananda. It means ‘Eternally blissful form of Paramashiva who holds arrows to destroy the ego of oneself and others’.”
